Second Grade Math Worksheets
Geometry

These second grade math worksheets give you the opportunity to help your child fine tune the skills required to be successful in geometry.

Although in second grade, the math skills heavily worked on are numbers and operations, some basic geometry is still covered.  Symmetry is continued and the Cartesian plane is explored at a basic level (using up/down; left/right terminology - or with one numeral identification for the X and Y axes.

However this does not mean that as parents we should relax about geometry, and shape recognition. Given enough time, geometry vocabulary will be lost through lack of use.  Because numbers and operations are explored, simple perimeter problems should be introduced now.  It reinforces calculating skills and builds upon the knowledge of first grade.
